WindowsWiki™

Forget paper, carry WindowsWiki™ in your notebook/laptop Windows computer!!

Free 30 day trial!

Imagine a spiral bound notebook; one that searches itself, links to other pages in itself, which searches for any page referring to the one you are looking at, which lets you make new pages easily, on the fly, without needing to know any HTML. that's a wiki. Now imagine that it is also very easy to install and use in a wondows computer; that's WindowsWiki.

WindowsWiki™ is intended for:

Self installing for ease and convience, and written for the windows environment, it is simple and powerful, with a feature set to help the mobile user to compute on the go. Forget paper, hypernotebooks are the way to go. WW turns your laptop into a hypernotebook.

GEEK BLOOD NOT CALLED FOR. It is almost droolproof it's so simple to use, and reliable to match. If you could get here on the web on your own, you can do this. And THAT has been a big problem with wiki's- the demand for geek blood to successfully install one.

NO GEEKS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS WIKI

It comes with a very compact and efficent little server program with VERY lightweight demands on the laptop. SO light, there is no point to turning it off when not in use. The installer will place a link to it in the start folder so it will begin when the computer starts up. There will also be a desktop shortcut and a quicklaunch toolbar shortcut in case you need to shut it down then start it again (though I can't imagine why, the impact to the system is trivial) and want to start it again. The installer will start it up for you while it is installing, there is no need to reboot the system. Once installed, it will offer to fire up the first page (which is called FrontPage), and I would suggest you do so so you can bookmark it. If this is inconvienent, you can go there later by typing
http://localhost/cgi-bin/WW.py
Into your browser's navigation GOTO area, and then click GO.

WW personal edition is shareware, AND IS $FREE$ to try out for 30 days after you install it. Youcan download it below. When it is installed, it starts counting days. AFTER 30 DAYS IT SHUTS DOWN unless and until you register it. This costs $10USD. Licenses for more than install are available, as detained in the wiki. You can register it by clicking the CLICK HERE TO PAY button forther down this page. NOTE that installing it once on a LAN and accessing it from all the computers on the LAN only counts as 1 install.

Are we giving you the impression this is an exciting step forward???

The browser you already use is the Graphic User Interface; Internet Explorer and Firefox both work fine.

A http server (that's what a web server is) must be running in the computer the wiki lives in, so the browser can talk to it. We thoughtfully provide one to you with this version of WW, called TinyWeb. It is what was used while devloping the wiki suite. It never balked at ANY coding error thrown at it whiole we were testing alpha stage (anything can happen stage) code. It is a robust CGI capable server, and we offer it to you with COMPLETE confidence that is will serve you well.

If you just want to play with tinyweb but not with the wiki, you can have the server for free, just click TINYWEB V:1.93 While copyrighted, it is freeware. It make a VERY GOOD utility server for devlopment work or personal serving as a LOCALHOST provider, and is well reccomended to students and hobbiests. It's author Max created it and offers it to all the world for free, even for commercial use, as long as it is not altered or claimed, and the license is reproduced intact. THANK YOU Max! He and his friends are over at RIT LABS and produce the fine free Email client The Bat (among other things).
